This Month.

A free three-day festival of immersive installations, digital art, film, talks and participatory work, connecting Barnsley's industrial landscape, communities and technology. Events take place across Barnsley Civic, Elsecar Heritage Centre, Barnsley Market and other local venues.

Saturday 26 September, 10.15am–12pm at Site Gallery. A playful sensory music experience for children and grown-ups with four headphone playlists, bubbles, percussion, colourful lighting and a child-chosen playlist over the gallery PA. Recommended age 3+.

Stainborough Rotary's annual community beer festival in aid of Barnsley Hospice and other Rotary charities. It runs from 2pm on Friday 2 October to 4pm on Sunday 4 October.

Free Sheffield city-centre family event celebrating sci-fi, fantasy, magic and Halloween with street entertainment, characters, demonstrations, activities and fairground rides.

Friday 25 to Sunday 27 September at The Light Cinema Sheffield. Sheffield's independent film festival showcases features, shorts, premieres and filmmaker events, bringing together emerging voices, film lovers and industry professionals.

Saturday 26 September across Sheffield venues including The Octagon, Corporation and Sidney & Matilda. A multi-venue celebration of post-punk, psychedelic rock, indie and alternative music, with White Lies among the announced acts. Tickets start from £44; daytime live music is 14+ and the late DJ element is 18+.

A free exhibition bringing together work by four Barnsley-based artists, created during a temporary summer studio residency. Open weekdays 9am–4pm; launch Friday 2 October, 5pm–8pm.

A free family Halloween event with a zombie disco, creepy rides, walkabout characters, food, entertainment and a costume competition.

Sheffield Bonfire Night event with two firework displays, including an earlier low-bang display, plus lasers, live music, street food, bars, children's activities and funfair rides.

A free art market bringing artists and independent creatives together in Doncaster Corn Exchange, with original artwork and handmade creative goods.

Saturday 26 September at Keppel's Column in Rotherham. Rotherham Council, FLUX Rotherham and community groups are bringing Waterloo Kiln to life to mark the 200th anniversary of its closure.

A family Halloween trail with magical challenges, characters, woodland creatures, games and seasonal activities.

A free local Halloween craft session where children can make and personalise their own monster treat pot.
