Our What's On section brings together events, activities and things to do across West, North, East and South Yorkshire, with a particular interest in the local, independent and unusual.

We're not trying to compete with the large event websites or simply list every major festival in Yorkshire. Instead, we want to help you discover the events that give Yorkshire its character — from village fairs and local markets to food events, heritage days, exhibitions, family activities, live entertainment and smaller community events.

Some events may be large and well known. Others may be small local events that you might never come across unless you knew where to look.

More Than the Big Events

There are already established websites covering Yorkshire's biggest festivals, concerts and major events.

The White Shire isn't trying to replace them.

We're interested in the events that can easily be overlooked.

That could be a village show, an independent food festival, a local market, a heritage open day, a craft fair, a community celebration, a small music event or something completely different.

If it's happening in Yorkshire and it's interesting, we want to know about it.

What's On Across Yorkshire

You can explore What's On in different parts of the county, making it easier to discover events close to home or find something to do when you're visiting another part of Yorkshire.

One of the aims of The White Shire is to shine a light on the places, people and events that can easily be overlooked.

A major festival will usually have plenty of publicity.

A small village event might not.

That's where we want to help.

If an event has a Yorkshire connection, offers something interesting or gives people another reason to explore the county, we're interested in discovering it.
