Stop 1 — Market Hall

Scarborough’s Old Town Heritage Society is preparing a display at Market Hall when a small antique brass maritime compass — the Old Town Compass — disappears from a locked display case. Inspectors Hugh Dunnit and Sue Them begin the investigation. A plaque explains that Market Hall was erected in 1853, replacing the congested street markets. Hugh notes that the display case was locked, with no smashed glass or forced door. Sue has seven names to investigate.
