Discover Skipton
Skipton sits on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, with a busy High Street, an old market, a medieval castle and the Leeds & Liverpool Canal running through town. It is easy to spend a day here without needing to drive between attractions.
Start with Skipton Castle at the top of the High Street, explore the free Craven Museum in the Town Hall, or take a walk through Skipton Castle Woods. The High Street market usually operates on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
The Leeds & Liverpool Canal runs past the centre, with towpath walks and boat trips. You will also find independent coffee shops, pubs, shops, places to stay and family activities in the directory below. See the Yorkshire Town Hubs for other places to explore.
We've also walked a 9.23-mile route from Skipton towards Low Bradley. Read our own Skipton day out and recorded walk, including the two Komoot route sections.

Keeping Our Yorkshire Town Guides Up to Date
At The White Shire, we regularly review our town guides and business listings, aiming to check information weekly against official websites and other reliable sources.
Opening times, prices and business details can change, so we recommend confirming important information directly with the venue before visiting.
Spotted something that's changed? Please let us know so we can keep our Yorkshire guides accurate and useful for everyone.
