The Walk
This 3.6-mile easy circular route combines Elsecar village paths, countryside tracks and waterside sections near Barnsley.
A Bit of Local History
Elsecar was transformed by coal mining and ironworking under the Fitzwilliam family of Wentworth Woodhouse.
Its Newcomen Beam Engine was installed in 1795 to pump water from Elsecar New Colliery. Historic workshops survive at Elsecar Heritage Centre.
