A Yorkshire Tradition Returns This August
Ackworth Pram Fest returns on Sunday 30 August 2026, bringing one of the village’s most loved community events back to the streets. The annual pram race raises vital funds for The Prince of Wales Hospice and attracts families, runners, walkers and fancy‑dress teams from across Pontefract, Wakefield and the wider Five Towns.

A Two‑Mile Route Filled with Energy and Entertainment
The event begins at Carr Bridge Playing Fields on Barnsley Road, where teams gather from late morning for sign‑in and warm‑ups. The race sets off at midday, following a two‑mile route suitable for all fitness levels. The finish line leads into the event village at Ackworth Cricket Club on Wakefield Road, where live music, food, stalls and entertainment continue well into the evening.
Fancy Dress, Decorated Prams and Big Community Spirit

Ackworth Pram Fest is known for its creativity. Teams decorate prams, dress in themed outfits and bring a sense of humour to the race. Spectators line the route to cheer runners on, creating a lively atmosphere that feels uniquely Yorkshire. It’s a day where families, friends and local businesses come together to support hospice care while enjoying a full community celebration.
Supporting The Prince of Wales Hospice
All proceeds from the event help fund specialist care for people across the district. The hospice relies heavily on community fundraising, and Pram Fest remains one of its most important annual events. Every entry, donation and ticket helps provide essential support for patients and families.

A Full Day of Activities for All Ages
The event village at the cricket club hosts live bands, children’s activities, food vendors and evening entertainment. Whether you’re racing, watching or simply enjoying the atmosphere, the day offers something for everyone.
Plan Your Visit
Entry for race participants is £10 per person, with teams of two to six people. Event village entry is £2 for over‑16s, with under‑16s free. Gates open late morning, and entertainment continues until around 10 p.m.
